A Graduate Assistantship is the preferred mechanism for hiring graduate students, as this role prioritizes the responsibility of the graduate program/department for the student’s education and professional development. To prevent a conflict of interest between the role of student and the role of staff, graduate students shall not work as staff in their own graduate program/department unless a special exception is granted by the Graduate College Dean.
